I have set up my new HTPC with the goal of playing UHD-BD on my 4k TV. After hours of analysis and experiment, I must say that my project with PowerDVD 17 UHD-BD failed to play. The support, unfortunately, does not answer yet.
Software:

• PowerDVD 17 Ultra


• Windows 10 64 Bit Prof. with Kodi


• SGX installed


• Intel Management installed


• Newest graphics driver for the HD 630


• DVB Viewer Server

Bd And 3d Advisor

Hardware:

• Intel i3 8100 (8. generation)


• Gigabyte Z370N with SGX enabled in the Bios, 512 MB located Ram


• 128 GB Samsung SSD + 6 TB WD RED


• 8 GB DDR 4 RAM


• Digitial Devices 4x Sat Receiver


• Pioneer bdr-211ubk

(In my eyes the most expensive UHD-BD Player that doesn't work. The hardware and software is the from Cyberlink recommend hardware for UHD-BD.)
In the windows device manager I can see the SGX enabled and also the Intel tool says it is active.
I tried to

1. activate and deactivate the SGX setting in the bios, no affect


2. I installed the IME (Intel Management Engine) frim the Gigabyte page


3. I updated the graphics driver


4. I changed the graphics RAM settings in the Bios


5. I installed the PowerDVD 14 which is bundled with the BD-Drive


6. I checkt the SGX service in the windows/settings and it is running


7. I connected the HDMI port directly to the TV (before there was my Onky 646 in between)


8. I disabled the lan and connected the HTPC to a separate WIFI over my smartphone


9. I disabled the windows firewall


10. I reinstalled PowerDVD 17 Ultra

-> Result: I still get the same error message. Error code 21204 and E8814001
I have no idea to get the 4k movie running and I spent hours to search and try what I can. I assume that the problem is in the PowerDVD Software
Does anybody have an idea what I can do? Or is UHD-BD only a marketing gag and is running only in a laboratory environment?

I took now different Version from intel, ASUS, Gigabyte but the message stays. I receive the error code 21204 and E8814001. With E8814001 with Google I find nothing at the moment, what does this error mean?

Did you try BIOS update from Gigabyte?
I found there is a new version BIOS F3 that released on 3/8 at Gigabyte page.

I have spent quite a few hours trying to get this to work (have UHD blu ray working fine on a older Z170 AsRock board so I know how it's done).
I suspect it is related to the Gigabyte BIOS and Intel ME. Have tried all 3 BIOS versions available in combination with both Win 10 1703 and 1709. Have also tried endless combination of Intel ME, Intel SGX and Intel Graphics drivers. Nothing works and always the same error as posted above.
The only thing I might add is that HDCP 2.2 seems to be working with some combinations of all this but not all (I test this using Netflix 4K as that requires HDCP 2.2 and Advanced Protected Audio/Video). I have noted that Cyberlink UltraHD blu ray advisor is not reliable when it comes to HDCP 2.2/APAV. Sometimes it says HDCP 2.2 and/or APAV or 'NO' but I still get Netflix 4K to work. Other times it is right.
Have logged a support case with Gigabyte so we will see what they say...
PS. Do you guys have these Errors in the Windows Event Viewer?

“I just purchased PowerDVD 15 Ultra after reading all of the recommendations and reviews and I'm sad to say that I've run into some issues with the product. I downloaded the product after payment and installed on my Windows 7 machine without issue. After installation, I attempted to play a Blu-ray I received from NetFlix ' Seventh Son' and received the attached errors (images 1 and 2). I am not sure what to do at this point. I wanted to call phone support but found out that is paid for, which is a bit concerning. So I am turning to you all to see if you can help me with my issue.”

Currently on the market, quite a few media players have got official authorization of Blu-ray playback. CyberLink PowerDVD is an exception. It’s been designed as a Blu-ray player tool that could play back Blu-ray discs in your region, regardless of the disc protection.

Here we would like to take PowerDVD 12, for example, to show you how to play Blu-ray folder on PowerDVD:

In Classic mode, follow the below steps to playback a disc folder:

1. Under BD/DVD Movie tab, click the disc button on the bottom-left.
2. Select the target disc folder on your hard drive.
3. Click Restart to play the movie.

In Cinema mode, follow the below steps to play back a disc folder:

1. Switch to Cinema mode by selecting the button on the upper-right.
2. Click Select Movie, then select Open disc folder on hard drive.
3. Select the target disc folder on hard drive.
4. Click Restart to play the movie.

If you are going to play back Blu-ray ISO file, follow the below steps:

1. Browse and find the ISO file in Cyberlink PowerDVD, either in the Movie Library or via the My Computer tab.
2. Select the ISO you want to play and then click on the play button.
3. Cyberlink PowerDVD displays a message asking you to install the required drive
4. Click on Install button and then Yes when prompted in the User Access Control dialog.
5. Cyberlink PowerDVD will start playing the ISO file once the drive is installed.

It’s quite simple to play back Blu-ray discs on PowerDVD. Just insert the Blu-ray disc into the Blu-ray drive and then open it from your PowerDVD. However, you need to make sure that your computer has everything for reading and playing back Blu-ray disc.

Part 3: How to fix the CyberLink PowerDVD won't play Blu-ray issue?

Sometimes we might come across errors for playing Blu-ray movies on Cyber PowerDVD. In such cases, what can we do to fix the CyberLink PowerDVD won’t play Blu-ray issue? In the following, we would like to showcase some reasons for CyberLink won’t play Blu-ray and corresponding solutions.

4. Not enough space in the installed drive: a Large amount of memory space is required for buffering Blu-ray movies for playback. Spare more space on the installed drive.
5. Antivirus software stopped Blu-ray playback on PowerDVD: Sometimes CyberLink PowerDVD may be affected by antivirus software. Disable antivirus software might resolve your issue.

If the situation of PowerDVD won’t play Blu-ray error persists, you could try to uninstall antivirus software, uninstall PowerDVD, reboot your computer and then reinstall PowerDVD to see if the playback error has been solved.
If still, PowerDVD can’t play back Blu-ray movies for you. Contact their customer service. And, if you have no response from the customer service or are not satisfied with the customer service, check the below solutions. They will work.
